Disclosure and Commitment to our Social Responsibilities

Our commitment to the fight against human trafficking and for workers rights:

As a provider of products that enhance lifestyles, one of our goals is to affect for the better the quality of daily life for everyone we touch, even indirectly as in the case of the workers of our suppliers in our supply chain.

Bidz.com Inc. feels that all workers deserve humane treatment in the workplace. Basic workers rights should include an expectation of reasonable treatment and compensation, as well as non-interference of off-hours activities.

To work towards this goal, we have instituted a Supplier Code of Conduct (SCOC) that includes expectations of a minimum level of treatment for all employees in our supply chain. To provide assurance that our supply chain is free of human trafficking of any description, we have implemented the following actions:
  • We have Anti Human Trafficking Policy and supporting procedures to provide guidance to our employees on our Anti-Human Trafficking methodologies. Non-compliance to the policy by our employees is subject to disciplinary action.

  • Annual training is provided to key employees on Anti-Human Trafficking practices.

  • An annual analysis is performed for the risk of human trafficking in our supply chain.

    • Our current analysis shows a very low risk of human trafficking potential for our supply chain, with less than 3% of our vendors (8% of supplier product value) located in countries listed as Tier 2 or higher for the risk of human trafficking by the US State Department, and none for goods/countries listed at high risk by the US Labor Department.

  • We ask all new large scale direct suppliers[1], as well as all active vendors located in Tier 2 or higher countries, to provide assertions that all materials or products incorporated into the merchandise provided to Bidz.com, Modnique.com, or other Bidz companies, complies with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which they are doing business.

    • This plan is expected to cover more than 95% of our direct product supplier expenditures[2].

    • Verifications are conducted by Bidz.com employees using a standardized Anti-Human Trafficking Assertion form. Note that the verifications are not conducted by a third party, as we believe this is our responsibility, and not something to be entrusted to an outside service provider, and that we do not rely on independent, unannounced audits.

    • A reassertion to update any assertions on file is periodically requested from our largest active suppliers, as well as randomly selecting smaller active suppliers to do the same.

  • We provide to our suppliers, and publish on our web site, a copy of our SCOC , and expect all our suppliers, and their suppliers (the supply chain) to adhere to the SCOC.

Our further Commitment to a Conflict-Free Product Line:

We desire to see a better world for ourselves and our children, as well as you and yours, so we also support the principles of the international Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) in our business practices for diamonds that we purchase.

KPCS is intended to stop or reduce the flow of money into areas where the mining of rough diamonds in particular is used to fund warfare and inhumane treatment of the people in the Congo area of Africa (Commonly referred to as Conflict, or Blood Diamonds).

Help For Those That Really Need It:

We at Bidz believe in assisting those that have hit hard times. Periodically we will conduct special auctions to raise funds for various humanitarian causes. At these events we designate certain items for the special auctions and donate the proceeds to the cause we are supporting, thus allowing our customers to also participate in the donation process. Ultimately the customer determines the final donation for a particular item. Recent fundraising includes relief for the tsunami in Japan, where $5,347 has been raised, and for earthquake relief in Haiti, where $45,555 was raised. The donations are routed to these causes via the Santa Monica Red Cross.

We hope that our small contribution to the effort to make this world a better place to live has a positive effect, and that others, both individuals and corporate entities, also make similar efforts to improve this small world of ours.
